What is MAE?
No professions unleash the spirit of innovation like Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. From research to real-world applications, mechanical
and aerospace engineers constantly discover how to improve our lives by creating bold new solutions that connect science to life in unexpected, forward thinking ways.
Few have such a direct and positive effect on people's every day lives. We are counting on mechanical and aerospace engineers and their imaginations to help us meet
the needs of the 21st century. |
| Mechanical and aerospace engineers know that life takes engineering, and that their disciplines provide freedom to explore, shape the future, encompass an
enterprising spirit, and call for limitless imagination. Engineering makes a world of difference and is essential to our health, happiness, and safety.
Creative problem solving, turning dreams into reality, is the core of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. |

MAE at OSU
The OSU School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offers Bachelor of Science degrees in mechanical (BSME), and aerospace (BSAE)
engineering. A premedical option is also offered. These are all fully accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the
Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology under the criteria established for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering programs.
At the graduate level, Master's and Ph.D. degrees allow the student to specialize in a wide variety of relevant technical topics. The School
is one of the largest degree-granting units in the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology. Mechanical and aerospace engineers are
key professionals in the invention, design and manufacture of devices, vehicles, machines, and systems that meet the changing needs of our
society.
Mechanical engineers may also apply their expertise to producing, using, and conserving all forms of energy. Aerospace engineers apply their
expertise to solving problems in high-speed ground transportation, environmental pollution, and meteorology, as well as being the key
professionals in the design and manufacture of air and space vehicles for transportation, exploration, and military purposes.
