International Students

In order to receive your I-20 in a timely manner, we suggest your complete application be submitted by March 1st for fall admission and August 1st for spring admission.

The fastest and easiest way to apply is to complete the online application which can be found on the Graduate College Web site. All correspondence for admission into a graduate program is done through the Graduate College.

Teaching Assistantships

Upon acceptance, applicants will automatically be considered for a teaching assistantship. Please do not correspond with MAE about possible financial aid. An official letter will be mailed immediately to applicant if an assistantship has been awarded.

Research Assistantships

To receive a research assistantship the applicant must directly contact the MAE faculty in their area(s) of interest. Master's students will not, generally, be offered a research assistantship until after demonstrating at least a semester of hard work, motivation, and research proficiency within coursework and the laboratory setting. Doctoral applicants are usually offered research assistantships at the same time the applicant is admitted to the Graduate Program.

Admission Process

  • Application materials are received and processed at the Graduate College
  • The Graduate College will notify the applicant if more information is needed
  • The application materials are sent to the MAE department for review
  • The department will send their decision to the Graduate College
  • The Graduate College will contact the applicant with the department's decision of their admission or denial
Note: Please do not correspond with the School of MAE regarding admission status. Unofficial results cannot be provided. You may view the Graduate Application Web site if you would like to know the current status of your application.
