Jacob and Students Discuss Wind Energy with T. Boone Pickens
Mon, Aug 17, 2009 - Prof. Jamey Jacob met with T. Boone Pickens and his wife Madeleine on Monday to discuss a wind energy project. Jacob
is currently working with OSU alum and renowned Oklahoma City architect Rand Elliott on Eliott's turbinomics concept, which brings together wind
energy generation with a high rise building. Wind energy is extracted at the site by placing wind turbines along the interstitial spaces in the
building. Jacob and AE students Alan Larson and Jeremy Hill and architect student Laura Morten recently finished wind tunnel tests on the concept.
Mr. Pickens visited the MAE wind tunnel in the ATRC along with Rand Elliott and OSU President Burns Hargis, shown in the photo.
Aerospace Students Present Aircraft Designs to Air Force
Thu, Jul 16, 2009 - As part of the US Air Force's US Air, Trade and Technology Expo, OSU Aerospace Engineering students Eric Johnson and Alan Larson are presenting their winning aircraft designs to the Air Force and public this week in Dayton, OH. For the first time, the Air Force has invited winning aircraft designs to be part of the exposition, highlighting efforts of undergraduate students across the nation. Since winning both 1st and 2nd place this year at the AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition in April, OSU secured the top spot at the event that highlights activities of the Air Force and other aviation sectors in the nation. Over a thousand visitors to the expo have seen the OSU aircraft designs.
